RN # 275 Abraham Wood 1615 - 1684
This notebook contains a detailed chronology of the life of Abraham Wood. The Peter Jones family [of Petersburg VA] has a historic connection to this Abraham Wood. The chronology begins 1620 when on 10 January the Lord Mayor of London orders a collection to be taken in each parish [assisted by the constable] towards the clothing, feeding, and transportation of 100 children to VA. In the list of names of the living in VA 1624, "Abram Wood" is found living at the plantation over against James City. In the "Musters of the inhabitants of Virginia" 1625, Abraham Wood is listed as age 10 and arrived VA 1620 in the ship named Margaret & John. Contains my research trying to clarify the connections made between the JONES and WOOD families.

RN # 274 Smith Families
Researching the JONES surname over these past 58 years or so, certainly provided some interesting challenges. The research notebooks given in the previous 273 post have stored many of these areas of interest. Adding a surname like SMITH gets things even tougher. At any rate, a good genealogy question always stimulated my interest.
The note book listed contains some recent work on the connection between my JONES family and the Smith (Smyth) families. Not all of course, but those that needed some clarification among my own tree branches. "Smith Families : Study Notebook" it is called. The following folks have been investigated:
"Sir Thomas Smythe, customer" (Burke, p. 945)
Thomas Smith, Co. Devon ca. 1580's
Capt. John Smith, early VA [never married]
Smith families early VA : including
William Smith 1624
John Smith (Old) Rappahannock Co. 1656
Thomas Smith - Accomack Co. 1639
Toby Smith (Smyth) 1637
Nicholas Smith 1645
Henry Smith 1635
Lawrence Smith 1652
Edward Smith 1637
Robert Smith
Augustin Smith
Also Smythe Co. Salop, Acton Burnerll
SMITH and JONES, a few tough nuts to crack it is.

RN #273 John Jones to Griffin Jones
This past year as been spent focusing on the difficult areas that remain in the old family tree. John Jones [b. ca. 1680 +/- 5 yrs] - [ d. 1716 ] to Griffin Jones, Sr. [b. ca. 1710 +/- 5 yrs] - [d. ca. 1758 +/-2 yrs.] is one example. This notebook contains the work completed on these two individuals. A branch of the family tree connected it is. Some brick walls take a little more time.

RN # 271 Jones Journeys : A Topical Index (II)
This notebook continues the indexing of the 19 volume set called Jones Journeys. The cover of my copy for volume two is shown below. [Some nice drawings on the covers of various volumes.]
Again, it is a alphabetical listing by state (US) outlining the content of each volume for that state. This notebook begins with the state of Nebraska, and ends of course with Wyoming... which is the only state of the 50 that did not seem to have a Jones Surname reference. [How about that.]
The notebook then contains the references for 1)) Revolutionary War Pensions and records, 2) War of 1812, and 3) references for England and Wales.
Does anyone know of an early Jones family to Wyoming? Please post a comment below.

RN #270 Jones Journeys : A Topical Index (I)
Jones Journeys has been a continual help in my Jones surname tree climbing. It was first published May 1973 by Mrs. Darla M. Jones, Rialto, CA. It was published quarterly until 1992, and contains a wealth of information pertaining to the Jones surname. No cumulative index existed, and as a reference, it was very hard to use since each volume had to be checked. [Has 19 volumes!] The following notebook contains a state by state index [by topic/subject] of the complete set 1973 - 1992. It was made following many frustrating attempts to follow an individual through the 19 volumes.
A sample from the cover of volume 19 is shown:
A sample of this notebook's content for the states "Alabama" through "Montana" is shown for Kentucky...
Each state has been organized from the content of this amazing collection of genealogy for the Jones surname.
